Instagram: photo tagging and update 3.5

On Instagram from today it is possible to insert tags in photos: it is one of the new features of the update that has reached version 3.5.

Air of renewal for Instagram, the popular photo application. In pure Facebook style – since, let’s remember, the social network giant acquired Instagram – the app is starting to assimilate some of the aspects that have led to the success of Facebook.
With the update released a few hours ago, in fact, also on Instagram come the photo tags, a very important element in the interaction dynamics on the blue social network.
The name chosen for this new feature is “Photos of you“, available for Android and iOS.
Compatibility with Windows Phone is still missing, but it is learned from corridor whispers that there might be developments in this regard from mid-May, not before.
I tags can therefore now be placed directly on the image and not just within comments, thus labeling everything: not only faces and human figures but also objects, which can thus be linked to the official communication pages of various brands, just to provide an example of the direct application of the mechanism that is activated when it comes to photos of objects.
This naturally begins to open up a wide space for monetization for the Facebook staff working on Instagram, as they have long been looking for the right way to monetize on mobile.

Perhaps Instagram is the answer to this need, since images are a rather powerful vehicle for news, interaction, and drawing attention to people and online profiles.
In fact, it seems that “Photos of You” was born precisely as a promotional tool for companies, before being a utility for users.
To directly observe the effects of this novelty, you need to update Instagram to version 3.5; furthermore, it is noted that at the moment the novelty is only in beta phase, so still under partial testing, although already usable.
To have access to the app in its final version, you will need to wait until May 16th.
