We’re back to talking about WhatsApp and the blue double check again in recent days.

The mechanism through which it’s possible to verify if a contact has not only received the sent message but has also read it and at what time has infuriated thousands of users.

The evidence of WhatsApp usage and message reading is not pleasing to many who, since the introduction of this new feature, have immediately cried out about privacy violations.

Given the many protests, the WhatsApp team has decided to backpedal (as also anticipated by an article published on FullPress.info a few days ago), allowing users to decide whether or not to display the blue double check.
The option has thus effectively become optional, but not for all users: at the moment, in fact, it’s possible to customize this setting only on Android devices.

Apple and Windows Phone users will therefore have to wait a little longer.

How to disable the double check on WhatsApp?

First of all, you’ll need to ensure you have the latest version of the instant messaging app, which is version 2.11.444.
To do this, you’ll need to download it from the official website, as the update is not yet available automatically or via the Play Store.

At this point, you’ll need to open the “Settings” menu and select “Account.” In this submenu, click on “Privacy,” and then, at the bottom of the new screen, uncheck the “Read receipts” option. That’s all there is to it: the blue double check will no longer be active, much to the relief of those concerned about their privacy.
