Hangouts: video calls also possible without a Google account

Video calls on Hangouts are now possible even for those who don’t have a Google account.

From today onwards, it will also be possible to participate in video calls on Hangouts, even without a Google account.
The novelty was recently formalized, in order to allow everyone to receive video calls.
Nothing very different from what is also happening via Skype, which is also open to those who do not have an account.
The frontier of new communications therefore appears to be this, perhaps also to curb a bit the “stranglehold” that the various instant messaging apps have managed to obtain in very wide segments of the population.
In reality, however, this novelty entirely branded Google Hangouts seems to have been conceived more than anything else to facilitate business and corporate communications.
In fact, at the moment, this new option is only active for fixed workstations as it can be applied to the navigation browser.
The person who wants to participate in the conversation will only have to “introduce themselves” by typing their name in the clearly visible form in the invitation email for the event.
At this point, a request to join the virtual group will be initiated: this will appear as a window/pop-up to the person who organized the video call, with a notification.

There are two possibilities: reject the request (red button with “Decline” written on it) or accept it (green button “Accept”).
The moment the new participant is accepted, the video call will also be open to them.
The operation is therefore extremely simple and intuitive, and it is possible that, once the practice is widely used, Google may extend this option to smartphones as well.
