Google is reportedly about to launch a brand-new shop, designed exclusively to sell Android tablets.

It’s little more than a rumor but the foundations are solid and the source is very authoritative: according to the Wall Street Journal Google is about to open an online shop entirely dedicated to the sale of Android tablets.
The financial newspaper has consistently proven accurate with the rumors and predictions published in its columns, so this time too there is a strong scent of real news.
It seems that the competition with the Apple Store and Amazon, the main competitors where a large number of tablet online sales occur, is fully open.
Apparently the first two allies in this race for tablets will be Samsung e Asus.
The names are certainly not surprising: Samsung is a long-standing Google partner in terms of smartphones and branded hardware, while Asus is the company chosen by the Mountain View giant for creating its next tablet, the Asus Memo 370T.
The idea, therefore, is to offer a unique and privileged platform for purchasing the new tablet but above all to aim for something broader, gathering the majority of tablets that have chosen Android as their operating system.
The project takes shape and perhaps starts precisely from the lack of success encountered by the shop set up – at the time – for the launch of the smartphone Nexus One: as much as Big G is prominent in the search engine sector, it is much less so in contexts such as ecommerce.
At least until now: the new online shop for Android tablets could perhaps completely change the scenario and give the competition a hard time.
It is not clear when this project might come fully to light but it is surely clear that Google is moving more and more in the direction of the mobile sector and apps, given that in recent days the link for Google Play – the former Android Market – appeared on Google’s homepage, letting even those who don’t own a tablet or smartphone know that there’s a world of apps, games, and features that make the leisure and practical experience even broader.
