Google Translate Translates Signs and Posters with Word Lens

Update available for Google Translate: real-time translations of text and signs.

A few days ago, we reported that something was about to happen in the Google Translate universe.
An update available shortly would indeed enable instant translations.
The upgrade to the Google Translate application has indeed been released, unveiling a truly useful tool, especially for frequent travelers.
It’s called “Word Lens” and it’s the new feature introduced in Google’s translation app that allows for real-time translations of various types of text.
Its practical utility can be easily imagined: think of a trip abroad and the need to understand which direction to take or instructions, for example, inside a museum.
Simply point your camera at the sign in question to see its translation appear.
There will be no need to take photos or click: the system will act autonomously and in a few seconds, returning the translation in your own language.
Word Lens also works completely offline, making it an extremely useful and, above all, versatile tool.

Currently, the languages supported by Google Translate’s Word Lens are still few – but essential.
Translations of text and signs will be offered – by selecting the desired language at that moment – in English, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian.
The “Word Lens” service will be available starting in the coming days for Android and iOS devices.
