While waiting for Google Panda to make its entrance into the Italian Web, many operators are in a state of anxious anticipation. Google Panda promotes quality content, but advertising does not notice it.
The anxious wait continues in Italy for Google Panda, the new Google update launched a few days ago in all English-speaking countries and since the end of February in the United States. Google Panda, as intended by the corporate in Mountain View, should remove from the search index (called SERP) sites that contain duplicate and low-quality content. In Italy, the wait causes anxiety and fear because our Web is not doing very well in this regard. Several companies, some even public ones, buy content on the ‘black market’ of publishing paying only a few cents or even percentages on Google AdSense.
advertising. Other corporations, always Italian but with international ambitions, aggregate content from others without recognizing copyright, which, fortunately, still exists in Italy. But not only that. With an arrogance befitting the arrogant, they get the maximum return from others’ content with advertising revenue almost always taken away from the rightful copyright holders.
It is interesting to note how “Media Centers,” companies that buy and sell advertising by the kilo, usually advertise precisely on these “exploiting” sites ignoring, in almost all cases, the small realities where the content is not only quality but also owned.
And now comes Google Panda. When it will be active in Italy is unknown but its effects are known thanks to the implementation in the English-speaking countries. Will it eliminate from the SERP the sites that are content (and sweat) vampires and exploiters? Will it sweep away sites that copy and paste arrogantly without citing the source and without caring about the editorial notes of the cloned site that still displays them?
However it goes, I hope that Google understands the real authorship of the content as well as promotes, as declared by Big G itself, quality. The death blow from Google and this significant update, however, must not be ignored by advertisers who cannot and must not buy and sell advertising by the kilo. Google’s spasmodic search for quality Google cannot be ignored by advertisers. Advertising, which often represents the only source of income for the publisher, must also adapt, quality has no price per click.
