The invitation-only registration phase is over: Google+ opens to everyone, inviting participation in the social network starting directly from the classic Google search page.
Google+, the social network from Google, is ready to take the decisive step after the “field trial” invitation phase: open registrations for everyone, without needing to be invited by email from someone already registered.
This is the biggest and most notable news standing out among the latest updates related to circles and contacts on Google+.
While work is still ongoing to improve the options already available to members and new ones are being announced, the invitation system disappears to allow everyone access to the social network and to enjoy the continuous flow of information and the convenience of video hangouts also on smartphones, another novelty announced together with the universal opening.
I video hangouts are a sort of expanded video chat, a continuous streaming that you can join both as a “spectator” and as a “host”; from today this feature has been extended for use on smartphones, with a release of the dedicated app already available on the Android Market.
These are just some of the improvements made to Google+ which, in less than 100 days since its debut, has seen not only the number of users multiply but also the progress made to the system, reaching – precisely with the opening of registrations to all – the round number of 100 new features, including updates, fixes and entirely new functionalities.
However, there is still no talk of the so-called business pages: for now, therefore, Google+ remains available only for individuals and not for business entities; so some more time will be needed but at the moment no precise date is known for this.
Google’s intention remains to allow only “real” profiles on Google+, meaning associated with an identity like “first name last name”, without nicknames which, however, can still be indicated but in a dedicated registration field. A telling case is the deletion of Google+ accounts some time ago; for everyone a constant: something strange precisely in the name.
Google focuses on people and their interaction: how many will be attracted by the blue arrow displayed on Google’s home page?
