Pre-orders are open for the multimedia glasses developed in Mountain View: here’s the price of Google Glass, also launched through a special contest.
When we talked about Google Glass – the futuristic augmented reality and connectivity glasses developed by Google – it almost seemed like a prototype shown by the research staff.
However, the project has continued to progress, leading to its natural conclusion today: Google Glass is about to go on sale.
Pre-orders have been opened for these very special glasses, which, to be activated, will require a simple command: by saying “Ok Glass” these new devices will “overlay” your normal vision, becoming an ally for searches and information.
Google has set up a dedicated website for the launch of Google Glass, complete with a contest: the prize is the opportunity to try them out, not to get a pair entirely for free.
Currently, the campaign is only active for residents of the United States who are at least 18 years old, so Europe is excluded from this competition.
The price of Google Glass will be $1500, even for contest winners who will thus only have a preferential way to access the glasses, and certainly not the item for free.
Nothing is known about the arrival and price in Europe, but what is already certain is that, despite the promotion having already started in America, Google Glass will not be released before the beginning of 2014.
