Google Earth flies to the cloud and becomes Google Earth Builder, to access all geospatial data in the cloud, without necessarily having to download heavy software and updates. A video of Google Earth Builder shows the practical application of this new feature.
Google Earth Builder arrives on PCs, with its enormous volume of updated geospatial data. This is a noteworthy innovation, as it represents a substantial yet lightweight improvement despite its scope: Google Earth has now become cloud-based. This is the most interesting aspect of the latest from Google Enterprise, a significant solution.
Being in the cloud, Google’s Earth observation product can be accessed from any PC and device, at any time, truly anywhere: Google Earth Builder will no longer require server space, residing on Google’s servers, just as is already the case with Google Maps or Google Street View.
For companies and organizations already using Google Earth, this represents an advantage, favoring economy, understood both in terms of cost and time and resources for GIS systems.
The mere fact of not having to worry about updates gives an idea of the convenience of Google Earth Builder in the cloud.
The greatest benefits will be for organizations, agencies, and public administrations that work daily with geospatial data, such as companies in the “oil and gas” sector, but also law enforcement agencies that need territorial monitoring. The Google Earth Builder cloud, no longer being affected by congestion and traffic spikes (which can occur on company servers, for example, in cases of natural disasters or emergencies), allows for scalable data traffic and secure recovery.
