Its name is Chromebit and it is a stick that allows you to turn your TV into a PC.
Google has just launched a new technological device that will allow “converting” normal televisions into PCs.
Thanks to the collaboration with Asus, the “Chromebit” stick has been created, a device that is, in effect, a small “computer” in stick format.
With this trick, therefore, even a television that is not classified as a Smart TV can become one.
All you need to do is insert the Google Chromebit stick into an HDMI port to allow the color TV to become a real PC on which you can watch multimedia content delivered by the stick itself.
Chromebit runs on the Chrome OS operating system and with a Rockchip processor; it has 2 GB of RAM and has an available internal memory of 16 GB.
Inside this small device, moreover, there are two modules through which connectivity can be established: there is support for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Thanks to this, therefore, you will not only be able to connect the TV to your home Wi-Fi network but at the same time you will be able to make the appliance communicate with wireless mouse and/or keyboard.
Thus, the TV will be transformed into a real PC, on which it will be possible to use the apps available on the Google Play Store, for example.
Not only that: in this way, streaming content will also be easily and clearly delivered to the TV screen. Just think, for example, of the possibility offered to view TV series online: definitely a great convenience, even in the absence of a Smart TV.
The price of Chromebit will be around $85: certainty for this information will arrive when it goes on sale, scheduled for the coming days.
However, there is a small “downside” to specify: at the moment of writing, we learn that Italy is not included in the list of the first countries where Google and Asus will begin distributing Chromebit.
The stick, in fact, in a first phase of launch will only be available in 12 countries: Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, United States, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.
However, there is a good chance that the device may also arrive in the rest of Europe in the coming months.
