Just as announced, the presentation event for Galaxy Nexus has just concluded. This is the new smartphone from Google, equipped with the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
The Galaxy Nexus (known until today as Nexus Prime) features a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, excellent for supporting HD games and videos, but also highly functional for simply browsing online, thanks in part to HSPA+ connectivity.
At first glance, the Galaxy Nexus undoubtedly impresses with its exterior, particularly its screen: the display – with a 4.65-inch diagonal – is a slightly curved Super AMOLED HD, buttonless, and very thin. The thickness at its widest point reaches just 8.84 mm, while the slimmest part measures only 4.29mm.
One of the most striking features of the Galaxy Nexus is the “Smile Unlock” system: facial recognition will activate the smartphone if you choose to enable this function.
Obviously, in pure Google style, there’s an entire set of preloaded applications to take advantage of: from cloud services to Google+, from maps to the calendar, the smartphone easily syncs all data with other devices connected to your Google account.
The camera allows not only for taking photos but also for recording videos at 1080dpi; additionally, a panoramic shooting feature is included, and photo editing capabilities are available to modify photos with various effects.
Google and Samsung have announced the price of the Galaxy Nexus: 599 euros for sale in Italy. The new smartphone will arrive in stores starting from the second half of November and will be distributed by major retailers as well as mobile carrier stores.
