FujiFilm X-E3boasts the 24.3-megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS III sensor and the fast X-Processor Pro image processor. The X-E3 is the first X Series model equipped with low-power Bluetoothwireless communication. It is therefore possible to connect the camera to smartphones or tablets for simple image transfer without wasting energy. The LCD monitor on the back of the camera uses a capacitive touchscreen panel that supports conventional “Touch Shot”, “Touch AF” (autofocus), and “Focus Area Selection” operations. To further improve touchscreen operability, the new “Touch Function” is available on the X-E3, which expands the utility of gesture controls, in addition to traditional zoom adjustment with “pinch” and image scrolling with finger “flick”. The AF algorithm has been updated to improve the camera’s performance in tracking moving subjects. The X-E3’s premium design, portability, and fantastic functionality make this mirrorless camera both “a pleasure to own and to use”.

Lightweight and compact body for maximum portability and convenience

Fujifilmredesigned the body of the FUJIFILM X-E2, launched in November 2013, with the aim of offering a more compact and lighter model, with a viewfinder and interchangeable lenses, within the X Series camera range. Thanks to its design, it is a perfect companion for daily use and travel photography. The well-balanced proportions and the design designed for a secure grip ensure comfortable handling. The new model also supports the “Focus Lever” (focus joystick), a popular feature introduced with the FUJIFILM X-Pro2, which allows instant adjustment of the focus area while looking through the viewfinder.

On the top of the body there are two dials, one for setting the shutter speed and the other for exposure compensation. The dials, made of high-quality milled aluminum, offer great feel, thanks to the correct torque and a reassuring click. The exposure compensation dial now has the C position, to increase the control range up to ± 5 stops in 1/3 increments. The X-E3 also features an “Auto” selector for fully automatic setting of the “Advanced SR Auto” mode so that you can choose the optimal settings for a given scene.

The X-E3 features the 24.3-megapixel X-Trans CMOS III sensor, APS-C size, and the X-Processor Pro image processor, to ensure extraordinary quality and responsive operation. The X-E3 has a wide phase-detection AF area and an updated algorithm that allows an autofocus speed of 0.06 seconds. The X-E3 also offers 5 fps live-view burst shooting, a fast startup time of only 0.4 seconds, a shutter release lag of 0.050 seconds, and an interval between shots of 0.25 seconds. 

Thanks to the new image recognition algorithm, the X-E3 can track moving subjects twice as fast as previous models. Furthermore, compared to what was previously possible, the X-E3 can track subjects that are half the size.

This is the first camera in the X Series to offer Bluetooth functionality. Thanks to the “FUJIFILM Camera Remote” app, by connecting the camera to your smartphone or tablet before shooting, you can easily and instantly transfer your taken photos.

The 3” LCD monitor uses a 1.04 Megapixel high-resolution static touchscreen display. Activating “Touch Panel Settings” allows the following operations during shooting or in playback mode:

・Focus Area Selection: by touching the LCD monitor, you can select the focus point.

・Touch Shot: touch a specific point to focus and shoot.

・Swipe Movement (scrolling movement): slide a finger across the screen to review images one by one.

・Double-Tap Enlargement: a double tap on the screen enlarges the image, centered on the focus point.

・Drag: when the image is enlarged, move a finger across the screen to navigate through the image.

・Pinch out: By placing two closed fingers on the screen and increasing the distance between them, the image zooms in.

• Pinch in: While the image is displayed enlarged, by placing two open fingers on the screen and decreasing the distance between them, the image size is reduced, allowing up to 9 images to be displayed simultaneously.

・All touchscreen functions are disabled when “Touch Panel Settings” is turned off.

The camera is also equipped with “Touch Function”, which allows you to activate pre-assigned functions using up/down/right/left finger movements. By using the drag motion on the touchscreen, even while keeping your eye on the EVF, you can change the focus area position. With the “EVF TOUCH SCREEN AREA SETTINGS” setting, you can enable touchscreen operation for “ALL”, “RIGHT”, “LEFT”, or disable the functionality with “OFF”.

X-E3 records video in Full HD and 4K using the renowned Film Simulation mode from the X Series. You can record audio from an external microphone via the MIC input and play back footage on an external monitor thanks to the HDMI port.
