Fujifilm Finepix XS1 expands the range of Fujifilm’s famous “X” series: here are the features of the bridge camera and its price.
Among the bridge cameras, here comes the Fujifilm Finepix XS1 (also known and referred to simply as “Fuji X-S1“), expected in stores during February 2012.
The chosen sensor is a 12-megapixel EXR CMOS in a 2/3-inch format: a large sensor in itself, even more so when compared to those normally mounted on other bridge compact cameras in the same segment.
Another peculiarity is offered by the fact that this sensor allows you to choose between three operating modes:
– High Sensitivity & Low Noise;
– High Resolution;
– Wide Dynamic Range.
All of this is supported by a Fujinon 6.1-158.6 mm f/2.8 – 5.6 zoom: in simple terms, in practical terms this is a 24 – 624 mm (35mm equivalent), therefore a 26x manual super zoom.
If a flaw needs to be found, one could perhaps argue that it seems they skimped on sensitivity, given that it reaches a maximum of 3200 ISO, reaching up to 12800 ISO in small JPEG.
It shoots up to 7 photos per second in burst mode and does so with user convenience, as the design has been carefully crafted to offer a good non-slip grip.
Every function can be controlled via the display, which is also very useful for taking unique photographic and video shots: it is a 3-inch tilting LCD display, thus an additional “eye” that moves almost entirely at will.
This undoubtedly complements another important element for obtaining good photos: the Fujifilm Finepix XS1 also has a high-resolution electronic viewfinder.
As for the price of the Fujifilm Finepix XS1, a figure between 800 and 1000 euros is expected.
