Flash Player 10.2 for Android is available for free download: in addition to the application’s usefulness, its ability to increase device performance is highlighted.
Flash Player 10.2 has finally arrived on Android smartphones and tablets: it is now possible to make the free download via both the Android Market and the official Adobe website.
Currently, two versions are available: a beta for Android 3.0.1 (Honeycomb) and a stable version, useful for Android 2.2 (Froyo) and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
From today, therefore, go ahead with interactive content and complete web experiences, even on devices lacking Flash.
The release of Flash Player 10.2 for Android is an almost “historic” moment for Adobe, as explicitly stated by a company spokesperson: “We are aware that in 2011, over 50 tablets will be launched that will enable a complete web experience, including Flash support, and Xoom users will be among the first to enjoy it”.
The reference to the Motorola Xoom is not casual: the owners of this device have repeatedly complained about the lack of support in this regard. From today, therefore, all Android users will be satisfied, with the free download of Flash Player 10.2.
The benefits will not only relate to the ability to access more interactive content on the web: there will also be positive repercussions on speed and general performance, optimizing processor activity and – in particular – the rendering of videos viewable via the web.
Adobe is already working on future updates both to allow Flash Player 10.2 to exit the beta phase for Android 3.0.1, and to significantly improve the hardware acceleration experience.
We await comments from Android users who are already testing Flash Player 10.2 on their devices.
