Firefox 4 available for download for a few minutes now: the news of the day is the final release of Firefox 4, finally on its way to the PCs of Mozilla enthusiasts. At the end of the article, also the presentation video of Firefox 4.
Fast thanks to the contribution of the “JägerMonkey” engine, Mozilla Firefox 4 aims to become a very fast and sleek browser. Indeed, Firefox 4 has finally reached its final version: it will be possible to download it immediately from the official website.
Months and months of delays, accumulated from beta to beta, have resulted in a broadly agile product: beyond the loading speed and the ability to perform hardware acceleration, Firefox 4 offers a much more minimal user experience, without frills and time-wasting. Even the visual impact, while pleasant, suggests that work has been done in favor of a “naked” but substantial look.
Other interesting features – since they save time – include the possibility of a “quick copy-paste”: there is indeed a specific “Paste and Go” item in the menu on the address bar. In this way, a single click will be enough to copy the URL and open the corresponding page.
Moreover, having passwords, favorites, and history available remotely is another useful news in Firefox 4. Furthermore, all this is grouped in a single window.
We confirm the presence of the feature called Do Not Track, the system that blocks the use of personal browsing data by websites for advertising purposes. A novelty that therefore limits access to cookies and alternatively is based on HTTP headers.
In this way, one should get – for example – a response, in terms of displaying ads, that is not geolocated.
Obviously, Do Not Track is a feature that can be activated and/or disabled at the user’s discretion: it is not enabled by default.
All this could be very useful to Windows XP users, left out of the improvements of Internet Explorer 9 and Chrome 10 in this regard.
Will this new release be able to withstand the growth of the browser from Google? It is indeed the latter that keeps gaining new users, leaving competitors at their usual numbers.
Firefox 4 in Italian can be downloaded on the official page. We will gladly welcome feedback and usage experiences, meanwhile this is the presentation video of Firefox 4.
