Here is a new way to broadcast live content on Facebook from Messenger Rooms.

Facebook Room Live Broadcast
Facebook Room Live Broadcast

Turn your Room into a Facebook Live, it’s easy. You can connect, like this, and broadcast live with groups of up to 50 people. Whether it’s hosting a book club with friends, interviewing a group of experts, teaching a fitness class, or sharing live with friends for fun, going live from a Room makes it simple to create more interactive broadcasts with audiences of any size.

From Rooms to Live

People turn to Facebook Live in particular to stay connected. Page live streams have doubled in June 2020 compared to the same period last year. From artists fundraising for causes they care about, to local zoos hosting daily safari adventures, to communities gathering for worship celebrations or couples exchanging wedding vows: people are really finding the most creative ways to connect through Facebook Live.

The Messenger Rooms are group video calls that you can join, which make it easy to spend quality time with friends, loved ones, and people who share your interests. You can create a Room and go live directly from the web version of Facebook o Messenger, inviting whoever you prefer to join, even if they don’t have a Facebook account. As the creator of a Room, you can broadcast your Room live to a single Profile, Page, or Group and invite people to tune in. By combining Messenger Rooms and Facebook Live, we are creating new ways for people to create content and stay connected even when they are far apart.

The room creator controls the broadcast, including where the room is shared on Facebook, who can see the Live, and who is invited to participate. All room participants will receive a notification inviting them to join the live broadcast and will be able to choose whether to participate or leave the room before going live.

The room creator can add or remove participants from the broadcast at any time, and participants can also leave the live broadcast at any time. The room creator can also decide to lock or unlock the room during the broadcast at any time.

Facebook Room Security

When a room creator chooses to go live, the broadcast becomes available on Facebook, and people outside the room can see what’s happening inside, depending on the type of audience the Room is open to and where the room is shared on Facebook. Viewers are encouraged to report any live video they believe violates Facebook’s community standards. As with other Facebook live videos, we can collect and analyze the live audio and video to ensure they comply with our community standards.

This feature is being gradually rolled out in some countries on the web version of Facebook and Messenger starting today, and will soon be extended to all countries where Messenger Rooms is available, as well as to the Facebook and Messenger mobile apps and the Messenger desktop version. And we will continue to make improvements in the coming months.
