**Facebook Messenger** becomes **free** even for those without a mobile data plan on their cell phone or smartphone: here’s how it will work in Italy too.
Facebook announces a significant innovation for its messaging service: the social network’s official blog announces that soon it will be possible to send free messages via Facebook using a smartphone or mobile phone, even without an active data plan.
This way, therefore, you can use Facebook chat even without 3G connectivity, by “relying” on your mobile operator.
The basic operation is simple and intuitive, but it should be noted that not all telecommunications brands will be allies in this new project by Facebook.
This unprecedented feature will be activated in 14 countries worldwide, including Italy. Regarding our country, it is the operator “3” that has entered into this type of agreement with Facebook, thus ensuring its customers the exchange of messages via Facebook chat even without connectivity.
However, the important thing is to have a fundamental requirement: a device with an Android or iOS operating system.
The ability to send messages via Facebook Messenger even without a data plan will be fully implemented in the coming months, and at the moment the social network staff states that the service will generally be free, but it is possible that mobile operators may decide that small fees will be required to use the new feature.
Therefore, clarifications are expected in the coming weeks from the “3” company regarding Italy.
