Facebook and anonymous login, now possible

A new feature is arriving that will bring a bit of privacy to Facebook users. It will now be possible to use an anonymous Facebook login when signing up for third-party initiatives.

At first glance, it may seem like just another one of Facebook’s many new features, but in substance, the function announced by Facebook is gaining the approval of many social network users. It will now be possible to access third-party applications with an anonymous Facebook login thanks to a button that will ask what to share.

While on one hand, authenticating with social network logins speeds up registration for new services not strictly related to Facebook and company, on the other hand, many users are reluctant to share their data solely with social platforms and not with third-party companies.

The new feature, therefore, should provide greater privacy, even if it’s obvious that the data coveted by all developers will no longer be available. On the other hand, Facebook won’t be too concerned about this, especially since to sign up for the platform, users will absolutely have to allow themselves to be profiled.

The new function was announced by Mark Zuckerberg himself during F8 2014, an event Facebook dedicates to developers.

“Facebook users increasingly want control over what they share,” said Mark Zuckerberg, “and it is precisely on user trust that the development of the future must be based. Thus, Anonymous Login is born, allowing you to log in to Facebook without being identified.”
