Canon PowerShot SX160 IS: Price and Features

Here’s an overview of the features and price of the Canon PowerShot SX160 IS, Canon’s new September release.

Following the presentation of the new PowerShot SX500 IS, Canon is also launching a second compact camera, also scheduled for release in September: the Canon PowerShot SX160 IS.
The design concept for these two digital cameras is very similar, with some differences that also justify their distinct prices.
The PowerShot SX160 IS features a powerful 16x wide-angle optical zoom with a 28mm focal length, useful for capturing subjects even at a great distance with satisfactory results.
In fact, it’s the combination with Canon’s advanced Image Stabilizer with Intelligent IS that calibrates everything, offering sharpness and automatic adjustment of the best settings for each shot.
Furthermore, thanks to Canon’s ZoomPlus technology, the zoom can be digitally extended up to 32x.

Regarding the sensor, it’s a 16-megapixel unit that transfers shots to the Canon DIGIC 4 image processor, which is also excellent for processing HD (720p) videos with HDMI output.
Many effects can be applied to photos: from Fish-eye to Toy Camera, you can unleash your creativity directly through the camera, without resorting to post-processing.
Additionally, the camera will automatically recognize lighting levels and external conditions, allowing a choice from 32 different scenes, for consistently precise photos in pre-established optimal conditions.
The price of the PowerShot SX160 IS will be 219 including VAT, as suggested by Canon to retailers. It is scheduled to arrive in stores in September.
