The Canon range expands with the new Canon PowerShot S100, a compact camera recently available in Italian stores.
Perfect for a Christmas gift, the Canon PowerShot S100 was launched on the Italian market in November.
It features a new 12.1-megapixel Canon high-sensitivity CMOS sensor with a 5x wide-angle optical zoom of 24mm, resulting in sharp and steady photos even in low light conditions.
Even in Full HD video recording mode, the images are quite clean, thanks to the up to 4-stop optical image stabilizer with Canon’s Intelligent IS technology, which limits possible vibrations from using the Canon PowerShot S100 handheld.
The processor chosen for this camera is a DIGIC 5, which supports the just-mentioned features and reduces image noise by up to 75% compared to previous versions, according to Canon’s claims.
It’s interesting to know that the Canon PowerShot S100 has a built-in GPS unit, allowing you to always know where and when photos were taken.
This data will not appear on the images but will be saved in a GPS log file that can be recalled or integrated with Google Maps.
All information and settings can be easily viewed on the large 3-inch (7.5 cm) PureColor II G LCD screen with 461,000 dots.
The price of the Canon PowerShot S100 suggested by Canon itself is 467 euros, including VAT.
Regarding the color options offered for the Italian market, you can choose between the matte black version or the titanium silver version.
