Canon EOS 5D Mark III: release and price of the new DSLR

Canon EOS 5D Mark III has arrived: the buzz online had been going on for several days, a sign that the circulating rumors were about to be clarified.
In fact, the announcement has just been made: Canon EOS 5D Mark III is the new DSLR, set to be released at the end of March 2012.
Let’s start with the technical details: the sensor is a 22.3-megapixel (MP) full-frame, definitely precise and fast. Assisted by the DIGIC 5+ processor, this new camera proves to be faster than the previous EOS 5D series, so much so that today the Canon EOS 5D Mark III can handle a maximum shooting speed at full resolution of up to 6 fps with bursts of 18 RAW images or over 16,000 JPEG.
Regarding the ISO sensitivity range, we note it goes from 100 to 25,600 natively, expandable up to 102,400: the result is always a rather sharp and pleasant image, even in low-light situations.
The tonal gradation then proves to be smooth, without sudden “jumps” in colors: thanks to the 14-bit A/D conversion.
The silent shooting function is interesting, very useful for professional photographers who often find themselves in situations where it is appropriate not to be intrusive, such as during religious ceremonies.
Obviously, the camera is also capable of recording Full HD videos, with frame rates ranging from 24 fps to 60 fps and the possibility to monitor audio levels with the help of headphones, usable both during the recording itself and afterward.
The work is facilitated by the screen, an 8.11 cm Clear View II LCD display, corresponding to 3.2 inches.
As for the lenses that can be used, there is no problem whatsoever in wanting to expand the equipment: EOS 5D Mark III is compatible with over 60 EF lenses, so it is extremely versatile in that sense.
Two versions are offered for the sale of Canon EOS 5D Mark III:
1) Canon EOS 5D Mark III body only;
2) Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 25-105mm 4.0 L IS lens
The camera release is scheduled for the end of March 2012 but the price has not yet been announced: we will update as soon as it is official.
