BlackBerry Messenger Coming to iOS and Android for Free

BlackBerry Messenger will soon be downloadable on Android and iOS devices, in both cases for free.

In addition to the unveiling of the new BlackBerry Q5 smartphone, the company took the opportunity in recent hours to announce another piece of news that has greatly surprised industry observers.
Through “Inside BlackBerry“, the official BlackBerry blog, it was announced that very soon the instant messaging system BlackBerry Messenger will also be available to non-BlackBerry users.
BlackBerry Messenger will therefore be available for download for Android and iOS, completely free of charge in both cases.
This way, those who own a BlackBerry and are active users of the BlackBerry Messenger service will be able to stay in direct contact with friends and relatives who have Android smartphones or iPhones.
Perhaps it was the overwhelming spread of apps like WhatsApp, but BlackBerry seems to have decided not to be left behind, especially with a service that has always been highly appreciated by BB users.

For this very reason, it has been decided to extend a feature of BB devices, making BlackBerry Messenger effectively a multi-platform mobile service.
A release date for the service on the Google Play Store and App Store has not yet been announced, but an imminent launch is expected, perhaps already during the summer if Google and Apple grant access to their respective stores in a timely manner.
