Apparently, Apple’s labs are working on launching the iPhone 6C within the year.
Just days after the Apple Watch presentation event, there’s already talk of a subsequent release of a new Apple product.
According to some rumors, in fact, work is underway in Cupertino on the iPhone 6C model.
The early reports come from Chinese sources and suggest the device – theoretically cheaper than the current top-of-the-line model – could be released as early as September 2015.
The rumor has been picked up by VentureBeat, which has also speculated about a new collaboration with Intel for wireless chips.
It appears these chips would be used for the production of a new iPhone intended for sale in emerging markets.
This has triggered the automatic mental association that it will likely be a potential iPhone 6C, conceptually a successor to the iPhone 5C.
Another detail emerging these days is that this device would mark a sort of “step back” regarding screen size: reports indicate a 4-inch display, at least according to announcements made in the virtual columns of DigiTimes.
Since current Apple models boast much larger displays, it’s rumored that the production of the potential “iPhone 6C” might be outsourced to another company, to avoid overwhelming Foxconn’s production lines. There’s talk of Wistron’s involvement.
So far, these are hypotheses: Apple does not leak any future plans nor does it comment – as per its established tradition, after all – on any rumors of this kind.
