News coming for Android Wear wearables: Wi-Fi support will soon be available.
The Google staff working on wearable device projects is about to release a significant update for Android Wear.
The operating system designed for wrist devices and beyond will soon see some upgrades, including one of particular importance and interest.
Thanks to the release of this update, natively enabled devices will also be able to connect to Wi-Fi networks.
A true revolution that, in essence, will allow anyone to use an Android Wear smartwatch even without necessarily having to “pair” it with a tablet or smartphone.
For this to happen, you will need a wearable already equipped with a Wi-Fi module; this has been largely unusable until now, but with this update, this particular aspect will change, quite radically.
You will therefore be able to use your smartwatch whenever there is a Wi-Fi connection to receive notifications, navigate via smartwatch, or use certain applications in real-time, to give just a few concrete examples.
Everything will happen in real-time, even if the main device (your smartphone) is not near the wearable.
If you forget your smartphone at home, you can still perform some operations by connecting to the company network or using public hotspots.
Although a release date for the update has not yet been officialized, it is expected to arrive on Android Wear devices at the beginning of next week.
