Android 5.0 Lollipop, update coming: on which phones?

Google has unveiled all the projects in the works over the last few months, starting with the new Android 5.0 operating system.
Finally, the “L” in Android L has been revealed: this was how the new version of the Mountain View operating system had been codenamed until a few hours ago.
It will therefore be Android 5.0 Lollipop: the company continues with its inspiration from the world of sweets and treats, this time referring to lollipops.
Even before knowing what new features the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system will enable, users normally want to find out if and when their smartphone will receive the system update.
It should be emphasized that specific dates have not been mentioned, but rather indicative timelines, although this news was directly released by spokespeople from Google and those particularly involved in the Android project.
Regarding the Nexus device family, Google announces that the following devices will certainly be updated with Android 5.0 Lollipop:

• Nexus 4,
• Nexus 5,
• Nexus 7;
• Nexus 10.

In terms of timing, reference has been made generally to the coming weeks.
Approximately around the same time, the update will also arrive on Google Play Edition smartphones.

As for the major smartphone manufacturers, it is possible to outline a release plan based on information communicated by the various companies.
At the time of writing, there is no information regarding Samsung devices; the situation is the same for Sony, and LG has also not yet released official information.
HTC, on the other hand, has announced that Android Lollipop will arrive on HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 within a maximum of 90 days after receiving the final software from Google laboratories.
Motorola devices will also be updated by the end of the year.
