Available for download for a few days, Skype Qik has been introduced to everyone.
It is an app created for instant messaging, with a particular focus on video messages.
There are some rather significant differences compared to other apps of this kind: Skype – Microsoft, which acquired ownership, it should be remembered – is certainly not the first tech company to move towards messaging.
However, it has managed to equip the app with features that could prove particularly useful.
This is the case, for example, with the ability to delete a video if sent to the wrong person.
It is even possible to “make disappear” video messages that have already been viewed by the recipient.
More generally, and already by default, videos exchanged in this way are automatically deleted two weeks after their creation and sending.
Everything on Skype Qik happens precisely through video, with a variable duration, of course.
If you don’t have the ability to record and send a video reply, you can proceed with a mini-recording of very short 5-second videos.
Everything works both for exchanges with a single contact and for group chats, with multiple contacts simultaneously.
To make these recordings, you can use either the front or rear camera interchangeably, and in both cases, everything will be done very simply and intuitively.
Skype Qik is currently available for download for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone, but it must be said that the iOS version differs significantly from the versions for the other two platforms: there are fewer features, but they will be implemented in the coming weeks, as soon as future updates are considered.
In any case, Skype Qik has been offered by Skype completely free of charge on the respective stores.
