Amex Sync on Twitter: social purchases with American Express

Twitter signs an agreement with American Express for the implementation of a social shopping platform: Amex Sync is launching.

A turning point in the world of e-commerce for Twitter: the social network has announced an agreement with American Express that will allow users to purchase items and services in an unprecedented way.
The system, intended for American Express cardholders who also have a Twitter account, is called Amex Sync and can be used via specific hashtags.
The operation is straightforward: after linking your credit card details (directly on the Amex website) to your Twitter account, simply choose what you want to buy and then indicate the proposed hashtag in a tweet.
At this point, you will receive a reply tweet directly from the @AmexSync account with a new hashtag that must then be retweeted. This procedure is necessary to express the actual purchase intent, similar to when you subscribe to a newsletter, for example, and are asked to click on a link indicated in the text to confirm the operation.
At this point, the purchase will be completed.

It should be noted that this system can only be tested and used by users with public profiles: those with locked profiles will not be able to “dialogue” with AmexSync and request data.
However, this also has another downside: by making purchases in this way, with a public profile, it is clear that all your contacts will be informed on their timeline of what you have just bought. This is an aspect related to privacy to consider.
Here is a video presenting the Amex Sync on Twitter service.
