Spotify, the long-awaited music streaming service, has arrived in Italy, starting today: freeor paid, here’s how it works.
It is called Spotify and it is probably the most anticipated content platform in recent months in our country: it is indeed a well-known and completely legal music streaming service.
On the occasion of the start of the Sanremo Festival 2013, Spotify makes its debut in Italy, boasting a catalog of about 20 million tracks: a fierce competitor to platforms like Deezer, more than iTunes.
Although it is obvious to think of the Apple-made platform when talking about digital music, it is important to emphasize that the approach of the two services is clearly different: on iTunes the experience ends with the purchase and therefore implies more or less automatically the ownership of the chosen music.
On Spotify, however, usage does not imply purchase but listening, as if it were radio streaming.
Furthermore, rather than focusing on albums or individual tracks, on Spotify the playlists dominate, a fundamental and highly customizable element.
There are three versions of Spotify available, free or paid:
- Spotify Free allows free access to the platform, in exchange for listening to advertisements.
- Spotify Unlimited is the first subscription offered, at a price of 4.99 euros per month. By paying this fee, you will not have to deal with advertisements or any kind of interruption to the streaming.
- Spotify Premium is the
Spotify is obviously based not only on music and listening to songs but also on social mechanisms: it is indeed possible to share what one is listening to by signaling on Facebook or Twitter, just as it is possible to insert the appropriate widget on the pages of one’s own site or blog.
To inaugurate the service in Italy, it has been decided to make availableexclusive content from the Sanremo Festival starting tonight: some big artists have indeed embraced the project.
Among them, one can mention Marco Mengoni, Chiara, Elio e le Storie Tese, Marta sui tubi, Simone Cristicchi, Max Gazzè, Almamegretta and others.
And so, the music streaming giant arrives in our country: signing up is simple, via the official website www.spotify.com.
Once your account is created, you will proceed to download the software and can start using the service.
