All things considered, Facebook is only missing a webmail service to definitively capture the millions of users who use the father of social networks every day to communicate with friends near and far.
Well, according to some rumors coming from San Francisco, Zuckerberg’s next step could be precisely Facebook mail, a webmail service capable of competing with Google’s Gmail.
Therefore, great news is expected for the Web 2.0 Summit, which will take place next Monday, November 15th, during which Mark Zuckerberg himself is scheduled to speak.
Even if we only consider an expansion of Facebook‘s services, it’s impossible to ignore the fact that gossip-laden rumors are circulating online that assess the arrival of Facebook webmail also in terms of a precise strategy to “fight” Google.
Just a few days ago, we talked about Google blocking APIs, in order to prevent its users from migrating contact data to Facebook: a real power struggle aimed at curbing the social network’s dominance.
Therefore, we await news from Monday onwards to discover if the world of email communications will also soon be colonized by Facebook webmail.
