Android 4.4 KitKat will not be rolled out to all smartphones with Google experience: here is the list of supported and excluded devices.
News coming from the Google front related to the operating system for smartphones and tablets: after much talk, the release of the new OS Android 4.4 KitKat.
has been made official. The event also involved the presentation of the Nexus 5 device, the first terminal to feature the native installation of Android 4.4 KitKat.
The launcher obviously features strong customization on the Google universe, with great emphasis on Google Now e Google Search.
This perfectly illustrates Google’s strategy: to make more and more information, functionalities, and entertainment readily available, without necessarily resorting to many apps but basing everything on information directly provided by Google.
This – if we want to draw a parallel with another recent Google innovation – suggests that the same strategy is being applied to the search engine’s operation with the introduction of theHummingbird algorithm, also known as Colibrì: the intent is clear, which is to give the user what they are looking for by increasingly using what Google can directly provide, without diversions to third parties.
Nothing new under the sun: this is in fact the strategy thatFacebookhas been trying to apply for years, becoming a container for multiple attractions in order to keep subscribers on the social network’s pages for as long as possible.
Returning to Android 4.4 KitKat strictly speaking, thelist of devices that will receive the update starting from these hourshas been made official, but at the same time, a sensationalexclusion.
I Galaxy Nexusdeveloped in collaboration with Samsungwill not receive Android 4.4 KitKatand will no longer be supported in this regard, as 18 months have passed since their launch. A commercial strategy that is sparking unhappy reactions from those who own such a device. However, Google does not seem to be open to discussion on the matter, completely confirming the exclusion.
Android 4.4 KitKat will regularly arrive instead on:
- Nexus 4,
- Nexus 7,
- Nexus 10.
A sure promise update also for HTC One Google Edition and for the Samsung Galaxy S4, naturally always referring to the “Google Edition“.
