It’s not out yet and it’s already attracting attention: it’s Ubuntu Edge, the smartphone on its way.
In recent months, there has been much discussion about the possibility of seeing a Ubuntu smartphone soon. Here comes news rich in detail regarding this: indeed, the project for such a device exists and will soon lead to the arrival of Ubuntu Edge on the market.
This is indeed the name chosen for the new concept dual boot smartphone that will feature 4 GB of RAM: truly powerful.
Not much is known about the processor, other than it will certainly be a dual core.
As for internal memory, there is talk of 128 GB available natively.
Being a dual boot device will allow the user to decide whether to use the device via the Ubuntu operating system or the Android operating system.
Regarding the display, it is learned that Ubuntu Edge will have a 4.5-inch screen with HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels.
There will be two cameras: the main one will be 8 megapixels, while the secondary one – located on the front casing – will be 2 megapixels.
Little else is known about this powerful smartphone, except that the connectivity includes a module for connection to 4G – LTE networks.
However, for Ubuntu Edge to be commercialized, a certain number of pre-orders for the groundbreaking product are needed: in fact, Canonical, the company that will produce the device, has decided to launch a real crowdfunding campaign.
To do this, they have decided to rely on IndieGoGo, and indeed at indiegogo.com/projects/ubuntu-edge, it is already possible to contribute.
The price of Ubuntu Edge currently set is $830, but by pre-ordering one or more units by tomorrow, it will be possible to receive a discount, paying a total of 600 euros.
