LG G Flex 2 Arrives: The Second Generation of the First Curved Display Smartphone

Unveiled at CES 2015, the curved smartphone from the South Korean manufacturer will attempt to build on the success of its predecessor.

The technical specifications of LG Electronics’ new device point to an excellent smartphone, but without any truly groundbreaking innovations.

The handset is equipped with a very powerful 1.8 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 processor. The Snapdragon 810 itself appears to be the cherry on top of this new G Flex 2. The GPU is, of course, the Adreno 430. It features a Full HD 1920×1080 pixel display with a pixel density of 403 ppi. The diagonal is 5.5 inches with Gorilla Glass 3. In terms of memory, the device comes with 2 GB of RAM, in line with the rest of the market, and 16 GB of internal storage. Memory can be expanded up to 2 TB. Regarding the camera, LG is again in line with the market, offering 13 Megapixels on the rear and a modest 2.1 Megapixels on the front. 4K video recording is supported.

The device also includes a 4G LTE module for the fastest possible data connection.

The battery is 3000 mAh, ensuring good autonomy. The dimensions and weight are well-balanced; the handset weighs 152 grams and its official dimensions are 149.1×75.3×9.4 mm.

It will be available in Q1 2015 with Android 5.0.1.

A device very much in line with the market, its primary differentiator being the curved design. The launch price, albeit lower than its predecessor’s, is not very competitive, with figures around 599 euros in Germany.
