HTML5 standard now arrives on Facebook: it’s the definitive farewell to Flash for videos.
The news of a major tech giant announcing the abandonment of the Flash standard no longer comes as a surprise. More and more companies have begun to move in this direction, leading even Adobe’s official statements to declare that continuing to develop Flash is no longer functional, opting instead to steer the standard in other directions. Thus, without much fanfare, Facebook has decided to change the standard for presenting its videos, saying goodbye to Flash and welcoming HTML5. It has been explained that HTML5 offers greater accessibility for users. For developers, this standard ensures greater stability and less expenditure of resources for testing and code development, and so on. This is a truly significant change, especially considering the volume of Facebook videos: millions of daily views on the social network platform. However, we already know that Facebook will continue to use, or rather accept, Flash. As announced a few weeks ago, this standard will continue to run on games and some Facebook apps.
However, it is evident that the predominant area where greater security and fluidity have been prioritized is not the gaming sector but rather video. The future is therefore largely charted: HTML5 currently appears to be the most widely used and accepted standard by almost everyone.
