Pepsi, the maker of the well-known drink, is reportedly about to launch a smartphone: the Pepsi P1.
The news seems incredible, considering that Pepsi’s main business has always been the production of the well-known “competitor” drink to Coca Cola.
However, in these hours new details – although they are entirely unofficial rumors – are allowing us to delve deeper into the matter, also because the rumors speak of a truly imminent launch.
In fact, it seems that by the end of October 2015, the Pepsi P1 smartphone – this is the supposed name of the hypothetical device – will reach the shelves of major retailers.
Furthermore, on some Chinese blogs, an image has been published through which it is possible to read the technical specifications and features of the Pepsi P1.
The first information we can gather is that the operating system will be Android Lollipop version 5.1 and that the device will run on a 1.7 GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor with Mali-450 MP4 GPU.
The supporting RAM will be 2 GB, while the natively available internal memory will be 16 GB.
Two cameras will be available: the main one will be 13 megapixels, while the front one will be 5 megapixels.
As for the screen, the smartphone will be equipped with a display with a diagonal of 5.5 inches, full HD type, and with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels.
The latest technical information – unofficial, we reiterate – that has leaked concerns the battery: it will be 3000 mAh.
According to Asian sources, the Pepsi P1 smartphone will be marketed in China, at least in the initial launch phase.
It will then be a mid-range price terminal, as its purchase will cost the equivalent of about 180 euros.
So far, these are rumors. The news has not yet received any official confirmation, so it will be interesting to follow the developments of possible new rumors which – if confirmed – would see the concretization of the rumors with a hypothetical release estimated for October 20th.
