More previews from the “behind the scenes” of CES 2013: Huawei is reportedly preparing to launch the new Huawei Ascend Mate, a 6-inch phablet.
While LG is reportedly bringing new Google TV models to CES, Huawei seems to be focusing heavily on smartphone evolution: the new “Huawei Ascend Mate” is reportedly ready. The phablet – a term used to indicate a hybrid device larger than a smartphone but smaller than a tablet – is nearing its release and, reasonably, should be officially unveiled at CES 2013.
Some details about its technical specifications have already leaked: the Huawei Ascend Mate will feature a 6.1-inch display and run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Rumors point to a powerful 1.8 GHz quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM, all powered by a 4,000 mAh battery, suggesting strong performance and battery life on paper.
From the first leaked images, it’s clear the phablet will boast a slim profile, measuring just 9.9 millimeters in thickness. While no hypotheses can be made yet about the Huawei Ascend Mate’s selling price, more information is expected to be available upon the opening of CES 2013.
