Microsoft will officially unveil the new Windows Phone 8 operating system on October 29th, with a specially organized event.

It’s now a certainty: Windows Phone 8, the new operating system for smartphones and tablets, is ready for its official launch.
Microsoft has indeed sent out a series of invitations for the presentation event that will take place on Monday, October 29th, three days after the launch of Windows 8.
The desktop operating system, intended for PCs, will in fact be released three days earlier, on Friday, October 26th.
It is currently understood that devices with Windows Phone already on the market will not be able to benefit from a possible upgrade to Windows Phone 8.
The company is indeed focusing directly on new models being launched, as an upgrade on older devices would be rather difficult: Windows Phone 8 features entirely new code, an unprecedented infrastructure, and therefore would not lend itself to a simple update with minor adjustments.
New releases are therefore expected to see the new operating system in action, and this again brings to light the still unconfirmed release date of Surface, the Microsoft tablet, which will run on WP8.
Furthermore, the first fruit of the collaboration initiated with HTC is also awaited, with the release of two or three smartphones designed specifically with Windows Phone 8 as their native system.
Finally, Samsung – with the Ativ S line – will also soon be able to present some new models in agreement with Microsoft.
The first smartphones on which it will be possible to personally test the new OS will therefore be the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC 8X, both expected in stores starting in November.
