Xbox One works even without Kinect: Microsoft confirms

Let’s get back to discussing the new game consoleXbox One as Microsoft has released new and important information.
Despite what was previously stated, the staff responsible for the development and promotion of Xbox One has now clarified that the console will be able tofunction even without the use of Kinect.
In particular, the main details were disclosed byMarc Whitten (Xbox One Chief Product Officer) who, interviewed by the siteIGN, took care to clarify and explain the situation to users.
At its launch, in fact, it was clear that the use ofXbox Onewas conditioned by the mandatory connection ofKinect, so much so that they put console plus Kinect packages on sale, in an essential combo.
Today, however, the exact opposite is being communicated: the sensor is not an indispensable object to start and use the game console.
Naturally, the absence of the connection withKinect will only affect some aspects of the console’s user experience: features related to movement, voice, and video will not work if the device is disconnected or if the sensor has been disabled from the Settings menu.
It will obviously always be possible to reactivate the functionalities, so as to play optimally in games that require Kinect.

In all other circumstances, therefore, disabling the sensor will not “hinder” anything and therefore – by disabling its use – no information will be collected by the system.
It is conceivable that it was precisely theprivacy managementthat led Microsoft to release these statements and to make Kinect no longer mandatory for the use of Xbox One.
Now industry observers speculate that in the coming months Microsoft may decide to launch sales of the console alone, without the Kinect bundle: this would also lower the device’s starting price, making it more competitive and appealing.
However, these are just predictions, as Microsoft has currently ruled out this possibility.
However, it should be remembered that regardingXbox One, there have recently been otherabout-faces: restrictions on games removed, it’s not a given that the company won’t change its mind about the console’s next retail packaging.
