Yahoo! will be Firefox’s search engine in the United States

Yahoo! is reportedly set to become the default search engine on Firefox, at least in the US market.

Sensational surprise move in the search engine sector. It is learned that the Mozilla Foundation is one step away from saying goodbye to Google, preferring another engine.
The choice would have fallen on Yahoo!, after years of loyal service in harmony with the Mountain View giant.
The agreement between Mozilla and Google is in fact naturally expiring, at the end of December 2014.
From that moment on, it really seems that the default search engine on the browsing pages of the “red fox” will no longer be Big G, but rather Yahoo!, at least as far as the strategies that will be launched and promoted in the United States are concerned.
All this would fit into a broader vision that places greater user privacy at the center of the usage experience.
Just a few days ago, in fact, there was talk of innovations in this regard by the staff working oninnovations to be implemented very soon in Firefox, and therefore the choice of Yahoo! would suggest a path always oriented in this direction.
Yahoo! would in fact allow a real implementation of the denial of tracking user data.
Marissa Mayer is in charge of this project: everything, therefore, takes on a strong flavor of challenge towards Google itself.
It is not clear if and when European users will also see this change which – at least in the sector – appears truly epochal: certainly the agreement between Yahoo! and Mozilla Firefox is signed for the next five years in the United States of America.

Another certainty is the exclusion of this revolution from the Chinese and Russian markets: here, at the moment, there is not even any agreement with Google, as there has been throughout the rest of the world until today.
The partnership between Mozilla and Yahoo! clearly has economic implications: the search engine aims to earn more from advertising, relying on a very large user base.
On the other hand, Mozilla itself has found itself in recent years having to deal with direct competition precisely from Google: the Mountain View giant has decidedly focused on Chrome, its own browser.
The “conflict of interest” therefore appears very clear and these innovations will certainly stir up the lazy waters of the search engines.
