Windows 8.1 will be available from mid-October: Microsoft reveals the release date.
Updates regarding Microsoft’s upcoming operating system upgrade: the company has announced the availability date for Windows 8.1.
Starting October 17, 2013, the update will begin rolling out via the Windows Store, exclusively for those who already possess a valid Windows 8 license.
For all other users, however, a 24-hour wait will be necessary, making Windows 8.1 available to everyone, including in physical offline stores, starting October 18, 2013.
Those who upgrade to Windows 8.1 will be able to bring back the Start button.
Furthermore, it will be possible to directly access the desktop instead of the Start Screen, a defining feature of the current Microsoft operating system version.
Therefore, users who wish to can opt for a revamped and modernized aesthetic reminiscent of classic Windows interfaces.
Connectivity with SkyDrive, the cloud service that will soon have to change its name, will be fast and even more simple and intuitive. Overall, the system will be designed for effortless use on tablets and mobile devices.
Additionally, Windows 8.1 will include the Internet Explorer 11 browsing browser.
And so, Microsoft will celebrate the first anniversary of Windows 8 with the update to Windows 8.1.
