Spotify is changing its terms of use for non-paying accounts: no more unlimited listening.
In these hours, Italian users subscribed to Spotify, in the wake of its arrival in Italy, have received an email communicating some changes to the terms of use of the music streaming service.
In particular, the email is addressed to holders of free accounts and, in summary, aims to inform that the unlimited free listening service will no longer be available.
Starting from August 12, 2013 – therefore the modification has already taken effect – non-paying accounts will have to settle for 10 hours of free usage.
If you wish to continue using Spotify, you will need to subscribe to the monthly subscription for 9.99 euros.
This is not an absolute novelty, as Spotify’s free unlimited service in other countries also presents the same situation: the first 6 months are completely free and without any time limit; subsequently, the free threshold is set at 10 hours per month.
The move, although legitimate, has not been liked by many users who are expressing their disapproval on Spotify’s Facebook page.
Many are looking for an alternative to Spotify and – perfect timing – just in the past few days, a very similar service offered by Google has arrived in Italy: it is Google Play Music Unlimited, which we also covered on FullPress.
Even Google’s music universe includes paid subscriptions, but the price is lower, albeit slightly: 7.99 euros per month.
