Sharing PDF documents on WhatsApp, here’s how. The feature has been activated on many users’ phones for some time.
WhatsApp users have the ability to exchange documents in PDF format. The feature is certainly very useful in WhatsApp.
WhatsApp has now surpassed billions of downloads and, after some attempts, has definitively abandoned the idea of charging an annual fee (0.89 euro) for its use. This has allowed Facebook’s company further growth but, at the same time, a continuous search for new ideas by developers.
Having abandoned the possibility of earning 0.89 euros x 1,000,000,000 (890 billion euros/dollars), WhatsApp has announced its intention to focus on a series of initiatives. The new feature, namely the sharing of PDF documents, is certainly a start. It remains to be seen if soon there will be the possibility to share other formats as well, including those from Microsoft, which could be subject to commercial rights.
The new extension for WhatsApp is available on all devices and can be used on both Android and iOS, more or less in the same way. It appears in the photos, videos, etc. window (accessible from the “Attachments” icon).
For the moment, users will be able to select documents from cloud storage services, including Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud Drive, and others, but the function remains limited to PDF files, at least for now. The prerequisite for using this new function is certainly updating the App to the latest release. In general, however, it is recommended to update Apps on devices because developers may resort to new versions, not only for aesthetic reasons but also for security or bug resolution.
Despite the limitation of the document format to be shared, it is easy to infer that this new function could appeal to WhatsApp Marketing and the sale of “virtual products”. Translated into simple terms: supermarket or store flyers, or electronic tickets, vouchers, etc., could find new distribution channels.
