Vodafone Smart Passport is theroaming offer from Vodafone, to talk, text, and browse even abroad, without surprises.
The summer holiday period often coincides, for those traveling abroad, with the search for useful information to avoid unpleasant surprises regarding phone bills.
This year Vodafone has decided to launch a new roaming offer called ” Smart Passport“, to allow people to talk, browse, and send SMS from abroad by paying a fixed price.
Currently, this option is applicable in over 40 countries in the Europe zone (you can consult the complete list at vodafone.it/portal/Vodafone-Smart-Passport) and can be subscribed to starting from July 1, 2013.
Regarding costs, Smart Passport has a price of 3 euros per day and is only activated in case of actual use.
Therefore, if you do not use your line at all for calls, messages, or browsing, no credit will be deducted.
Included in the 3 euros per day will be:
- 50 minutes of calls;
- 50 SMS;
- 500 MB of data at the maximum allowed speed. After this threshold, you can continue browsing but at 32 kbps, without further restrictions.

If you are a user of a Vodafone Relax subscription, please note that – still at the price of 3 euros – you will be entitled to unlimited calls and SMS, while nothing changes regarding the data limit, just as presented for the “Smart Passport” profile above.
News also for those who wish to use tablets or modems abroad: Internet Passport is also revised, to offer unlimited browsing at maximum speed (within 1 GB, afterwards you can continue using the network but at reduced speed) at a price of 6 euros per day.
Finally, Vodafone takes the opportunity to announce that the normal roaming tariffs are changing in favor of the provisions from the European Union: those who wish to use their phone abroad without subscribing to any specific option will pay
- 29.3 cents/min to call,
- 9.7 cents for each SMS,
- 55 cents for each MB of data traffic.
