Nook Tablet Reaches the End: Production Ceases

Barnes & Noble officially announces the end of Nook tablet production: the reasons are here.

For an industry as dynamic and prominent as the tablet sector, the news of the cessation of production for one of its most esteemed devices is unexpected.
Yet, the publishing giant Barnes & Noble has decided not to produce any further units of the Nook tablet.
This is not a rumor or hearsay; it is entirely official. However, the company states that it does not intend to leave the device market entirely, showing openness to potential future partnerships.
The reason for the decision to discontinue the production of Nook Color, Nook HD, and Nook HD + is not difficult to surmise: sales of these devices have significantly declined in recent months.
The economic crisis, felt for months now, has certainly played a role in curbing sales. Nevertheless, the second major factor that has become glaringly evident is the competition from other players in the sector, particularly in the presence of other products that are more complete and offer greater usability compared to the Nook.

Competition is indeed fierce, and it’s easy to imagine how the market share has been divided with the advent of two formidable competitors such as Kindle Fire – Amazon’s tablets – and Google’s “google tablet” Nexus 7, which is comparable to the devices in question due to its extremely competitive price point offering excellent features.
From now on, therefore, it is announced that all the group’s efforts concerning devices will be concentrated on the development and production of black-and-white screen devices and the well-known ebook readers, the true hallmark of Barnes & Noble.
