Many artists in the big section of Sanremo (10 out of 16) have an active Twitter profile. Here is how they present themselves, their weaknesses and strengths. Suggestions and advice in this analysis.
Arisa @ARISA_OFFICIAL
The slogan accompanying Arisa’s profile, born Rosalba Pippa, is in English. Since most of the artist’s fans from Lucania are Italian, a slogan in our native language wouldn’t have been out of place. At the time of writing there are 486 tweets (few), 30 following (profiles followed) and 23,050 (thanks also to the splendid participation at Sanremo).
Interaction: Arisa rarely writes on her own profile, instead her staff writes on her behalf and only on certain occasions. It’s not ideal social behavior to have a profile and hand it over to third parties (even if trusted people). The advice to Arisa is to write in her own hand. She certainly doesn’t lack ideas. The general advice is to interact more with followers.
Moreover, the profile name is too long and looks bad in uppercase letters (in netiquette this is a synonym for shouting). Twitter is a microblogging platform and such a long name is not effective. Simply @Arisa (if available) would be enough; the official status of the profile is handled by Twitter.
Chiara Civello @Chiaracivello
Chiara Civello’s profile shows 78 following and 4,094 followers. Chiara has posted a good number of tweets (1263), several also in foreign languages (Spanish, Portuguese, etc.). The profile also seems populated by tweets not written directly by Chiara. A pity. Interaction seems good.
Dolcenera @ManuDolcenera
Dolcenera has written 996 tweets, follows 35 profiles and is followed by 9,840 profiles. The chosen profile name is a bit long; simply Dolcenera would have been fine as it is already a fairly original name. The artist writes directly on her profile and does so in a direct way, interacting very well with her followers. She also makes good use of hashtags (#). Well done.
Emma Marrone @emma_marrone
The artist, fresh winner of the Sanremo Festival, warns her followers about possible fake profiles (slogan). The profile shows a substantial number of tweets (3,080), follows only one profile, UniversalMusicItalia, and has 25,163 followers. The only profile followed leaves me a bit puzzled. Is it possible that only one is noteworthy? It is evident that Twitter is only used to communicate and not to “stay” informed. The advice is to get to know the platform’s peculiarities better. I also suggest better interaction with her followers.
Francesco Renga @rengaofficial
Francesco Renga has an official Twitter profile, we noticed by the name. As with Arisa, a shorter name would have been healthier especially since Twitter would have credited the profile’s official status. Renga has posted 462 tweets (not many), follows 19 people and is followed by 8,011 fans. Renga writes “with his own hand”, replies to colleagues’ tweets. I did not see interaction with followers, it may have been a coincidence at the time I analyzed the profile. Good.
Gigi D’Alessio @_GigiDAlessio_
Gigi D’Alessio has a considerable number of fans (84,711). Too bad he follows no one (is it possible there is no interesting profile for Gigi?) and has written just 592 tweets. Gigi D’Alessio seems to write personally even if he interacts very little. A pity!
Marlene Kuntz: @marlenekuntz
208 tweets, 5 following and 3,796 followers. These are the stats of Marlene Kuntz which present a “normal” profile. Little interaction with fans but several pieces of information about the band’s activities and movements. To be improved but only a little.
Nina Zilli @ninazilli
Nina Zilli has an interesting number of followers (12,940) thanks to good use of Twitter. She follows 24 profiles and has written 153 tweets (few for the number of fans she has but maybe she started recently). She is very attentive to replying to other profiles via Twitter and delivers lots of useful information also to journalists and industry professionals. Well done.
Noemi @noemiofficial
Noemi’s profile seems written by third parties. This does not bode well for the talented singer. We would like a different use of the platform and I believe this would also please her 5,704 fans. Noemi follows 14 profiles and has written 910 tweets. Noemi’s Twitter account could have presented itself shorter (same reasoning as Arisa and Renga). During the Sanremo Festival she seems not to have posted any tweets “in her own hand.” The advice is to use the platform with the same simplicity that characterizes her as an artist.
Pierdavide Carone @Carone_Official
Also Pierdavide, like many of his colleagues present in this list, uses “official” in the Twitter account name. The slogan clears all doubts: the profile is not used only by the artist but also by the staff. Why? Carone and his staff sometimes use retweets but almost never respond (at least at the time of analysis) to questions. The profile has 335 tweets and 5,269 fans. Carone and his staff follow 47 profiles. The advice is to dare more, to go beyond formality.
Loredana Bertè, Mattia Bazar, Irene Fornaciari, Samuele Bersani, Eugenio Finardi, Lucio Dalla, do not have a Twitter profile.
