Presentation of the Chief Innovation Officers Study 2019, the first Italian study on the subject, jointly conducted by the University of Pavia and StartupItalia, seeks to answer the most common questions about the role, diffusion, and strategic relevance of executives with the highest responsibility for innovative processes in companies.

Who are the “Chief Innovation Officers” (CInOs)? What exactly do they do? Are they inventors, innovation architects, or perhaps… ‘pirates’? Are they a passing fad or a critical success factor for companies?
The first Italian study on the subject, jointly conducted by the University of Pavia and StartupItalia, seeks to answer these and other questions about the role, diffusion, and strategic relevance of executives with the highest responsibility for innovative processes in companies.

After the first preliminary results based on public data released in September 2019, this second phase of research offers a more in-depth overview of the background, stories, and results of CInOs in Italy, thanks to a representative sample of 155 executives in such roles, consulted through interviews and questionnaires.
Some data on the relevance of the sample: these 155 CInOs – all together – coordinate 4,443 ‘innovation people’. The companies represented had a total turnover of 114 billion euros in 2018 (equivalent to the GDP of half of Finland, more than the GDP of the entire Kuwait).
The unprecedented results of this second phase – which show some confirmations and many surprises – will be presented for the first time on December 16, 2019, at #SIOS2019.

Presentation of data from StartupItalia regarding the number of rounds, investments, and the impact on jobs concerning Italian startups in the last 12 months.
