Just a few more days and the new Spotify Video platform could start working on Android.
We are talking again about a project related to Spotify that was already discussed last May 2015.
According to US sources, the “Spotify Video” video streaming project will be officially launched in the coming days.
The Wall Street Journal is betting on this possibility, citing people very close to the matter.
According to the latter, in fact, during the coming week the company’s top management could start “broadcasting” streaming videos, at least on the Android platform. For iOS devices, it might take a few more days, if not a few weeks.
However, it should be clarified right away that – according to these rumors – the novelty will not concern Italy or Europe in a broader sense. It seems, in fact, that the first – and initially the only ones – to enjoy the innovation will be US users.
Spotify Video – this is the name that will most likely be given to this new business area – will not only concern the streaming of music videos, as one might easily think considering the original nature of Spotify itself.
Spotify Video should, in fact, also offer TV series specifically designed for platform users, documentaries, and various services provided by companies that are already working on creating videos for YouTube today.
Spotify Video could therefore be not only and not so much a kind of video “integration” of what is already offered, but also a completely new mass medium, more oriented towards the philosophy behind services like Netflix.
However, from the columns of the Wall Street Journal, no information is obtained regarding the possible prices for subscribing to this type of new video streaming service, so we will have to wait until next week to be able to ascertain it.
While waiting, of course, to understand if Spotify Video is actually being launched and if, after a run-in period, the service will be expanded to the European audience.
