Sony Xperia E Dual could be the name of a new smartphone, whose main feature would be its dual SIM capability. These are just rumors, let’s find out more.
Sony is reportedly working on the upcoming launch of a new smartphone, belonging to the successful “Xperia” series.
Sony Xperia E Dual, this is likely the name of the device, would however have a particularity compared to the Sony Xperia models already on the market: according to rumors coming from Indonesia, Sony Xperia E Dual could be a dual SIM smartphone.
Given the origin of the news, it is assumed that – at least initially – the device could be sold in emerging countries and particularly in Asia, relying on a competitive price.
However, too little is known about this dual SIM smartphone, so it is good to keep in mind that we are talking about early information leaked fortuitously from the Indonesian site Postel, not confirmed by Sony itself.
It should be specified that Postel is not just any source, as it is the body in Indonesia responsible for approving electronic devices to be put on the local market, and what appeared online is a screenshot fragment on which it is possible to note the presence of the wording “Sony Xperia E Dual“, along with another model, the “Sony Xperia E“.
The existence of a basic version, with a single SIM, is therefore hypothesized.
Not much is known about the technical characteristics, except, again thanks to consultation of the aforementioned sheet, that the Sony Xperia E Dual will mount a screen with a resolution of 320×480 pixels (without specification about the diagonal) and that the operating system will be Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
It is impossible to predict, at the moment, the likely release in Asia, let alone in Europe.
However, the news of a probable upcoming arrival of a dual SIM smartphone, and moreover a low-cost one, is very appealing.
