Sony Vaio Fit 11A models are not safe, at least according to the statement released by Sony itself: at risk of explosion, a recall is initiated.
Sony has announced that it must recall one of its products due to a serious anomaly.
Sony Vaio Fit 11A notebooks can explode due to a battery issue, and according to the Japanese company itself, the defect affects 25,905 units.
A large number of these, in fact the majority, were sold in Europe, so the alarm strongly concerns our continent before the rest of the world.
Sony has therefore asked buyers and owners of a Sony Vaio Fit 11A to stop using it immediately to avoid the “risk of battery overheating which could damage a part of the computer“, as stated in the press release.
In addition to this, consumers are also invited to await new instructions, as Sony is setting up a widespread support network to inspect individual units and – in case of the aforementioned manufacturing defect – proceed with the necessary repairs.
All repairs will be free of charge, but the company estimates that a couple of weeks will be needed to initiate these procedures.
This is an unfortunate situation for Sony, which, while wanting to rectify the situation as quickly as possible, is experiencing a negative setback that does not go unnoticed, especially as it follows the announcement of the end of notebook production, which occurred a few months ago.
