Sony SLT-A37 or Alpha 37: Technical Specifications

While awaiting its release scheduled for June, here are the technical specifications of the Sony SLT-A37, also known as the Sony Alpha 37.

The Sony SLT-A37 – or Alpha 37, as it may be called – is the new Translucent interchangeable lens camera.
This digital camera stands out for its fast shooting speed, continuous autofocus system, and the ability to monitor the image thanks to continuous live preview. These three aspects are the core of Sony’s Translucent technology.
The sensor is a 16.1-megapixel effective Exmor APS HD CMOS which, aided by Tele-zoom Continuous mode, can shoot at high speeds, even at 7 fps with continuous autofocus.
The focusing system allows for 15-point phase detection with 3 cross sensors and proves valuable even when recording Full HD video in AVCHD format (50i/25p).
The high-resolution viewfinder ensures 100% coverage, with good contrast and 1440k resolution points.

Just like another recently introduced Sony model – the Sony NEX-F3 – this camera is also equipped with a tilting LCD screen, to facilitate framing from any angle, even the most challenging ones. Regarding dimensions, it is a 6.7 cm (2.7-inch) Clear Photo LCD.
The presence of 2x Clear Image zoom is noteworthy, allowing for shooting distant subjects without altering the pixel count.
The release of the Sony SLT-A37 (or Alpha 37) is expected in June.
