Samsung Galaxy S5: features and release date

Samsung has officially unveiled the new Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone: the release date and technical specifications have been revealed.

As widely anticipated, Samsung has decided to present its new Samsung Galaxy S5 right at WMC 2014 in Barcelona.
The top-of-the-range model has been illustrated with its main features, partly denying some rumors that circulated in recent weeks.
The release date of the Samsung Galaxy S5 has also been revealed: the device will be distributed starting next April 11, 2014, also in Italy, but one detail always very interesting for potential buyers is missing. The price of the Samsung Galaxy S5 has not been officially announced by the company and therefore more will be known in the coming weeks.
As for the new terminal’s configuration, the operating system on which everything runs is Android 4.4 KitKat, while the beating heart is characterized by the 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor with 2 GB of RAM support. In fact, we did not expect any less than this; however, some early rumors spoke of 3 GB of RAM, and in this case, expectations were not met.
Internal memory will be available in two different sizes to choose from: 16 or 32 GB; in both cases, storage capacity can be expanded with the help of microSD cards up to a maximum of 128 GB.
The screen is 5.1 inches of Full HD Super AMOLED type, with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and 432 ppi. Interesting is the power-saving feature that, at a certain remaining battery level, automatically activates by dimming the colors and brightness of the display.
Speaking of battery life, the integrated battery is 2800 mAh with Ultra Power Saving Mode functionality.

Much attention has been paid to the camera, which includes a 16-megapixel main camera with an accompanying Isocell LED flash and hybrid autofocus system. Vibrant photos and 4K videos are guaranteed.
The second camera – located on the front – is instead 2.1 megapixels: more than respectable.
Among the major innovations of the Samsung Galaxy S5, one can focus on four innovations. The first concerns the presence of a fingerprint reader (certainly not a novel feature: Apple got there first); there is also a heart rate monitor, so you can monitor your heart rate.
Furthermore, the device is resistant to water and dust, with the appropriate IP67 certification.
Finally, despite the great similarity to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has undergone a slight restyling from an aesthetic point of view: the casing, although made of plastic, has been made with a perforated design, softer and more “stylish”.
Four colors are available: alongside the usual classic white and black, there are also an iridescent blue and a gold color.
We are therefore waiting to discover the price of the Samsung Galaxy S5: as soon as there are official updates, we will report them.
